"After 25 years experience in the FMCG industry, running my own business, and in corporate sales management, I felt it was time to formalise and build on the skills and knowledge I had acquired. My current employer, Fonterra Brands New Zealand Limited, recognises the value of a internationally recognised qualification from The University of Auckland Business School in enhancing staff skills, and they funded my part-time study. New Zealand FMCG is a dynamic business and through the courses covered at The University of Auckland Business School I gained the business skills required for the industry, which has helped me to develop and grow in my senior management role. I have found the course educational, exhilarating and challenging, and all in a very positive environment."
Jessica Seamark, National Customer Services Manager, Fonterra Brands New Zealand Limited, current student, Postgraduate Diploma in Business in Administration.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Business (PGDipBus) is specifically designed as a gateway to the MBA and Master of Management (MMgt) programmes. You will gain a solid grounding in general management skills and modern business practice.
Graduates are recognised for their broad knowledge and versatility by employers in both the public and private sectors, in New Zealand and overseas. The diploma is studied part-time and is usually completed in two years. You will also be required to complete an online mathematics workshop and mandatory orientation before you begin your studies. It requires the completion of 120 points. Upon completion, you can seek entry to the final year of the MBA or the Master of Management, if you wish to continue your studies.

Composition
The PGDipBus is a part-time programme requiring completion of a minimum of 120 points. Typically, these points are gained over two years of study, but this may be extended or reduced to suit your work schedules and private commitments. One of the programme’s major advantages is that you will have the opportunity of learning with people who share similar goals and contribute their own, unique business experiences. Project work, group interaction and discussion are all used to maximise this feature and every student's experience is considered an educational resource for the class.
In Year 1, you will study four core courses in business administration, each worth 15 points: Management, Quantitative Analysis, Accounting and Marketing.
In Year 2, you will take three courses (totalling 45 points) in your chosen field: Administration, Mäori Development, Marketing or Operations Supply Chain Management. Prerequisites may apply. Then, in the final quarter, you will come together with all the other diploma students to participate in a capstone Strategy course which draws content from all disciplines.
In Year 3, you may apply for entry to The Auckland MBA™ or the Master of Management programme. The entry criteria include a B+ average or better and a personal interview. Some students may also be required to enrol in transition courses in order to meet MBA and MMgt prerequisites.you choose your Masters option (MBA) or MMgt if you have achieved a B+ or better average. Other entry criteria may apply.
You will study alongside your peers in a stimulating environment, and be able to apply what you learn immediately in your workplace.
