“While many aspire to leadership and have the necessary gifts, most fail to see the need to be personally prepared.” Max de Pree – Leadership is an Art

Despite our fascination with leadership, our attempts at developing it have often been disappointing.  What if the top 10 leadership tips you read on LinkedIn or the latest management magazine have got it wrong?  What if what really counts in leadership was right under our nose, but obscured from our view?

In this short, sharp interactive session, you’ll determine what really counts as leadership (including in your own role); look at how to make more space for leadership; and answer the three questions that will accelerate your leadership development.

Presented by Dr Peter Blyde

Peter Blyde was the Senior Executive Programme Director at the New Zealand Leadership Institute from 2005 – 2010 at the University of Auckland Business School where he worked intensively with over 100 senior executives on the Hillary Leadership Programme (an 18 month long cross-sector leadership programme).

Peter regularly works with the Business School to develop and deliver executive development programmes.  He is a Director of CATALYST4 – a consulting and development organisation specialising in leadership development, vision and strategy, and executive team development.

Most recently Peter has worked with senior executives from Fonterra, Midland DHBs, Metro Performance Glass, Ballance, and ANZ.

What is a Short, Sharp event?
Complimentary Short, Sharp events are designed to provide you with a short and sharp version of a University of Auckland Business School short course. Like our courses, these events focus on the practical application of theory. We give you practical tools and knowledge that you can apply immediately in your business environment. Come and experience our expert presenters’ first-hand at the University of Auckland Business School.

The evening opens with a brief introduction from the Business School Dean, Professor Jayne Godfrey, followed by a one-hour interactive session with the presenter and audience. There will be opportunities to network with likeminded professionals over drinks and canapés before and the presentation.
