Scholarships, awards and grants

Undergraduate and postgraduate Māori and Pacific students can access a range of scholarships, awards and grants provided either by the University or through external organisations.

General scholarships and grants

There are a wide range of scholarships and grants available to undergraduate and postgraduate Māori and Pacific students attending the Business School.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you wouldn’t be able to get a scholarship or grant because too many other students have applied or because you don’t meet the criteria. Also don’t be put off if the application form looks complicated and difficult to complete.

There are many grants and scholarships and grants, which means that often the number of students applying for a particular scholarship or grant is fairly low.

The criteria described isn’t always rigidly applied – if you feel you are weak in some areas you may have other attributes that will outweigh that.

The Student Academic Advisory team in the Business Student Centre can help you complete your application.

So wouldn’t it be great to be receiving the financial support offered by a scholarship or grant? What have you got to lose – find the right scholarship or grant and put in an application!

Commuting grants

The University of Auckland Business School recognises that meeting the costs of commuting into university can be a struggle for many Māori and Pacific students.

Commuting Grants are available to assist full-time undergraduate Māori and Pacific students whose studies are threatened by the costs of commuting into university. The Grants are paid through Auckland Transport (AT) HOP cards that can be regularly ‘topped up’ with funding from the Business School.

The Grants will be awarded to the students that have the greatest financial need. To receive a Grant undergraduate students must complete and submit the below application form.

Grant applications open Tuesday 7 February 2017 and close at 5pm on Friday 3 March 2017.

We encourage our students to apply for awards in their area of study. Whether you win a scholarship or not, the application process provides networking opportunities and valuable experience that will help to hone your interview skills.
