Property graduate recruitment awards
The Department of Property has launched two awards; one to celebrate exceptional property graduates and the other to recognise employers who have made a big contribution to our graduates.
This award is for the graduate who has had the biggest impact on their company and the industry since graduating with a Bachelor of Property. The judges are looking for someone who has demonstrated potential and ambition to reach the top. To be eligible for this award, they must have graduated from the Department of Property between May 2009 and May 2012 and been employed by your company for between six months to three years.
To nominate a graduate for this award, please give Noreen Garrad their name, contact details, date of graduation, job title and the date they joined your company. We also need your contact details and the name of your company.
Please also send a written submission of no more than 1,000 words explaining how the graduate meets each of the following five criteria. To give them the best chance of success, provide examples or supporting material showing why they deserve this award.
- Market knowledge/commercial awareness (eg, ability to transfer from learning to a working environment, up-to-date industry knowledge, commercial acumen).
- Technical ability and understanding.
- Career-focused (eg, motivation, desire and willingness to learn).
- Working to company values (eg, representing company in a positive manner, working to high standards).
- Work-life balance (eg, extracurricular activities, well-rounded lifestyle).

This award goes to the employer who has made the biggest contribution to the employment, career growth and development of students graduating with a Bachelor of Property from The University of Auckland Business School. Eligible companies must have employed a graduate of the Department of Property between May 2009 and May 2012 and employed that graduate for more than six months.
To nominate your employer for this award, please provide Noreen Garrad with the company name and contact details. We also need your contact details, your degree and the date you graduated.
Please also send a written submission of no more than 1,000 words explaining how your employer meets each of the following five criteria. Give some examples showing why they deserve this award.
- Workplace environment and culture (eg, work-life balance, team spirit, social events).
- The graduate’s role (eg, exposure to industry, duties match position description, experience gained, accountability and responsibility, Key Performance Indicators in place).
- Support or training (eg, training programmes in place, one-on-one or ad hoc weekly or monthly reviews).
- Career growth (eg, defined career path within the organisation, promotion criteria in place, expectations voiced).
- Mentoring (eg, formal or informal mentor for the graduate in the organisation).

All entries will be judged by a panel that includes the Head of the Department of Property, the Business School’s Director of Careers, a representative from Hays Recruitment and two Property graduates.
The winners will be announced at the annual Department of Property Graduation Dinner on the grounds of Old Government House on Thursday 3 May.
