About the forum

This forum gives you the unique opportunity to hear from international experts in the family business field, along with New Zealand family business owners who provide insights from their own experience.

Transitioning success in New Zealand family businesses

The dynamics of running a family business are significantly different to managing any other kind of business, especially when the issues of the day can be vigorously debated over the dinner table at night.

Last year, attendees told us they gained ideas and strategies that they implemented immediately in their family businesses to address issues and opportunities. This year’s Family Business Forum will again generate practical ideas to stimulate inter-generational growth.

This year's forum topics are:

  • Maintaining entrepreneurial momentum and growth.
  • Succeeding across generations.
  • Setting family and business goals.
  • Addressing the challenges and opportunities of the future.

Long recognised as a different business model in Europe, the strength of family business is cited as one of the factors driving swift recovery in post-GFC European economies. In New Zealand, the rewards of running a successful family business are beginning to be recognised as a sustainable and successful business, shared interests and enthusiasm through generations and the ability to forge strong families and communities.
