Our research centre

The Mira Szászy Research Centre for Māori and Pacific Economic Development was established by The University of Auckland Business School in 1998 in honour of the late Dame Mira's achievements.

Vision

The Mira Szászy research centre is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Māori, Pacific Island and other indigenous peoples, their communities, small-medium enterprises and nations.

The centre aims to provide effective economic and social development support services to Māori and Pacific communities, nations and small-medium enterprises by bringing together experienced and skilled practitioners and scholars dedicated to high quality outcomes.

Te Toka Kāmaka o Waiparuru – The Soul of The University of Auckland Business School
Situated inside the entrance of the Business School’s Owen G Glenn Building is a sculptural artwork and at its centrepiece is a Pounamu Kahurangi or rare greenstone named Te Toka Kāmaka o Waiparuru.
