The Master of Management appeals to those seeking to develop specific expertise in areas such as Administration, Human resources, Health Management and Māori development.
- The core of this degree is the research dissertation where you confront a significant organisational or strategic issue. You are supported in this through coursework in research methods and supervision by an experienced researcher.
- This programme builds on your Postgraduate Diploma in Business and is designed to develop advanced knowledge in business competencies.
- The research foundation gained in this degree provides a pathway into The University of Auckland’s PhD programme.
- This degree provides a contributory foundation for new policy developments, strategic interventions and organisational change.
PGDipBus with an average grade of at least B+, or an equivalent specialised postgraduate qualification relevant to your business experience with a similar level of achievement.
At least five years’ fulltime relevant work experience is also required.
The two year part-time master’s degree is research-based, requiring completion of a research dissertation supported by coursework in research methods.
Students take the course BUSINESS 710: Research Design (15 points) and then either BUSINESS 704: Quantitative Research Methods (15 points) or BUSINESS 705: Qualitative Research Methods (15 points) in the first year of study followed by a research course MANAGEMT 705: Organisational Research Project (90 points) in the second year of study.
Students with a qualification that includes research methods appropriate to masters research may be permitted to complete the Master of Management through a 120 points thesis (MANAGEMT 797: Applied Research in Organisation).
