University targeted admission scheme (UTAS)

UTAS is the University’s targeted admission scheme for Māori, Pacific and students with a disability.

A number of places are reserved in undergraduate programmes for these students who have met the University Entrance (UE) standard but have not met the guaranteed entry score for the programme of their choice. UTAS is open to Māori, Pacific and Disabilities applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.

UTAS applicants must indicate/tick the appropriate box on their online application for admission form. Additional information could be required by some programmes.

UTAS admission requirements

The UTAS admission requirements for the BBIM, BCom and BProp degrees are outlined in the table below:

Bachelor of Business and Information Management (BBIM) 140 At least 14 credits in each of three subjects from Table A or B; or 14 credits in each of two subjects from Table A and B plus at least 10 achievement standards credits in Level 3 Statistics and Modelling or Mathematics with Calculus
  • Up to 3 places for students with disabilities
  • 5 for Māori and Pacific (see footnote 1)
Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) 140 At least 14 credits in each of three subjects from Table A or B; or 14 credits in each of two subjects from Table A and B plus at least 10 achievement standards credits in Level 3 Statistics and Modelling or Mathematics with Calculus
  • Up to 10 places for students with disabilities
  • 90 for Māori and Pacific (see footnote 1)
Bachelor of Property (BProp) 140 At least 14 credits in each of three subjects from Table A or B; or 14 credits in each of two subjects from Table A and B plus at least 10 achievement standards credits in Level 3 Statistics and Modelling or Mathematics with Calculus
  • Up to 3 places for students with disabilities
  • 5 for Māori and Pacific (see footnote 1)

1. The UTAS places for Māori and Pacific students in BBIM/BCom/BProp include mature students.
