Hardship support

If you are struggling financially, there are several options that may help you.

Awards from The University of Auckland

The University of Auckland Partnership Appeal Awards help academically able students who are struggling financially in the final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme.

The University of Auckland Jubilee Awards will support the first three years of an undergraduate degree for students who have financial need.

For more information on these awards and others, see Scholarships and awards.

Student emergency fund

There is an emergency fund you can apply for if you can't make ends meet and have exhausted all other funding sources.

To be eligible, you need to:

  • Be a currently enrolled student.
  • Have attended your course for 2 weeks or more.
  • Have an acceptable attendance record.
  • Have exhausted all other avenues of financial assistance – eg, StudyLink, WINZ, savings, etc.
  • Complete the Student Emergency Fund Application Form in full.

Please hand in or email your application form to the Student Information Centre.

Email: studentinfo@auckland.ac.nz

If your application to the Student Emergency Fund is unsuccessful, you may still be eligible for assistance from a financial coach to provide free independent and confidential advice.
