From the Associate Dean
Greetings! Welcome to the third edition of Postgraduate News. This is the last edition that our Postgraduate Manager, Hayley Shields, is orchestrating. Her contract has come to an end so on behalf of the Business School’s Postgraduate team, advisers and students, we wish her every success in her future endeavours.
At the same time, the Postgraduate Office is in the process of amalgamating with the Undergraduate Student Centre to be housed together in the Business Student Centre.
On top of the usual achievements and research columns, in this edition I would like to highlight the Business School’s PhD Conference on 24 October 2012. The conference will showcase the diverse topics covered by the Business School’s PhD students and also the range of cultures represented in the PhD cohort. PhD students at various stages of their candidatures will participate in paper and poster sessions at the conference.
This conference is mainly led by our PhD representatives, Nina Brosius and Vanisha Narsey, and helped by about ten other PhD students. Nonetheless, I would like to emphasise that the success of the conference will not just depend on their efforts. The participation of faculty members is essential for a successful event and to show support, so I encourage faculty members to participate by coming along to join the audience or volunteering to be discussants or judges at the sessions.
Last but not least, I would also like to thank Dr Denise Conroy, our outgoing PhD Director. On behalf of the Business School and PhD students, thank you for your service in this role for the past three years.
I hope you have a great semester or quarter ahead and look forward to seeing you at some of our Business School events.
Best wishes from myself and the Postgraduate team.
Professor Siah Hwee Ang
Associate Dean (Postgraduate)
