- Flexibility to create your own individual programme — you are encouraged to pursue a double major — using the range of majors offered across the Business School.
- Equips you with first class communication, teamwork and leadership skills, as well as cross-cultural understanding.
- The Business School is accredited by EFMD, EQUIS and AACSB International. In addition the school has programmes recognised by NZICA and CPA Australia.
First year
- Study two courses in Business introducing you to the types of choices facing entrepreneurs and managers and focusing on the development of professional skills.
- Take a broad range of core courses including: Business and Enterprise 1 and 2; Accounting Information; and Law in a Business Environment.
Second year and beyond
- Have the choice of studying up to two courses from outside the Commerce schedule as well as the required number of courses from your chosen major(s).
- Study two courses from the General Education schedule.
- Be invited to join the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom(Hons)) programme if your results have been consistently strong.
Career opportunities
The BCom degree leads to a variety of career options, including accountant, marketing manager, operations manager, tax adviser, trade policy analyst and web applications developer.

BCom majors
A major is the main subject area that you choose to study in your degree. You will study courses to Stage III level in this subject.
When deciding on the major for your degree you should consider short and long-term career goals and personal strengths and interests. Learn about each of the majors and find out what courses are required:
