The Business School welcomed back the first cohort of business masters students in January with an afternoon tea. Student retention is strong and GSM Director for Business Masters, Sue Laurenson, congratulated students on successfully completing their first quarter of studies.

One of the highlights of the first quarter was the industry speaker event with Allen Qu, a University of Auckland alumnus and CEO of Netconcepts, based in China. His presentation offered students valuable insights into the challenges of doing business in a global economy and how digital business is shaping the world.

The next event is planned for mid-February and includes a line-up of academic and industry speakers who will provide students with information about choosing their specialisation.

Interest in the programmes has been strong and a second cohort will join the programme in April. Applications will remain open for domestic students until 1 March to accommodate students who are completing their first degree in Summer School. A number of scholarships are available for domestic and international students.

Two new masters programmes, the Master of Applied Finance and Master of Marketing, will be offered from September. These are both 18-month, 240-point programmes and follow the same structure as the Master of Professional Accounting and Master of International Business.
