It was a fun-filled and informative week for the second cohort of GSM Masters students, who took part in a week-long orientation programme in April.

The intensive five-day programme included a mix of both academic and social activities designed to help students transition into their masters study. There were plenty of opportunities for the new students to mingle with their fellow classmates and academic staff at group dinners, a treasure hunt around the Auckland City Campus, an expedition to The Edge Rock Climbing Centre, and a chance to experience Māori culture with a traditional pōwhiri at Waipapa Marae. The students also completed workshops on cross-cultural communication, time management, working in groups and academic integrity.

Feedback received from students after the event was very positive. One student said: “It was amazing and helped us to know the faculty and our classmates much better while having fun.”

Students from the first cohort also got involved, acting as student ambassadors and providing excellent support to staff and students. Their role included hosting group dinners, which provided a great forum for sharing their experience with the new students.

The Business School welcomed close to 100 students from 13 different nationalities into the second cohort of GSM Masters programmes and they are now into their fifth week of study.
