From the Acting Director’s desk, June 2017

19 June 2017

Welcome to the second edition of Supply Chain Link for 2017. We hope you had a good summer, and now ready for a productive winter.

Professor Tava Olsen is finishing her research and study leave by the end the this month and will be back from 1 July. During her leave, Tava attended many conferences and was invited to many universities in North America and Europe to present her work.

We had a productive autumn quarter. The talk by Dame Wendy Pye, of Sunshine Books, in April was excellent and well subscribed. We successfully organised an evening with Vaughan Grant from Foodstuffs. Foodstuffs includes New Zealand’s most iconic and popular brands such as PAK’nSave, New World, Four Square, Gilmours and Liquorland. This event was well liked by our partners and community.

We are reaching out to collaborate with industry and academic stalwarts. Towards that end, we signed an MOU with Next Logistics Technology (NeLT) which is a part of the Korea Maritime Institute from Tongyoung in South Korea. This MOU opens up opportunities for collaboration and sharing resources.

Our first semester ended on 9 June and second semester will start on 24 July. Our programme and activities continue from last quarter. Our Associate Director Brian Stocking has put together an interesting and busy agenda for winter and spring.

We appreciate your continued support and are happy to receive any suggestions you may have. Looking forward to working with you during rest of the year.

Associate Professor Arvind Tripathi
