After 5’s with Rob Howard

28 March 2018

On Monday 12 March, CSCM hosted its first After 5’s event for the year with keynote speaker Rob Howard, who was travelling from the US. Rob is a frequent speaker on supply chain management particularly, last mile delivery, who has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, US News and World Report, the San Francisco Chronicle and many others.

Rob is the Founder and CEO of Grand Junction (recently acquired by Target) and Ensenda (acquired by Transforce).

We had over 50 people attend this event, which started with a very informative presentation followed by a Q&A session and ended with a networking drinks and nibbles.

Rob highlighted the importance of same-day delivery as well as what is driving Amazon, Google and others in their strategies. He also discussed the potential impacts of autonomous vehicles and drones on the supply chain. In addition, he covered trends in the US on the last mile delivery which was very instructive. His view is that Amazon is causing same-day delivery to become a must-have for US e-commerce companies and that similar trends are likely to eventually follow here in NZ.

Rob has an expert view of the emerging on-demand economy including Uber, Lyft, Postmates, Google and Amazon business strategy. He has raised over $50 million in venture capital and angel money for the companies he founded.
