SSCME Programme

04 December 2018

We have just successfully finished another cohort of the Strategic Supply Chain Management Executive Programme. Co-designed by the Centre for Supply Chain Management and leading NZ business executives (who form the Business Advisory Group for the programme), this dynamic programme actively develops mid-career professionals from various parts of the supply chain into strategic supply chain leaders. The next iteration is planned for May 2019.

One of the participants, Kelly Clow, has kindly provided her thoughts on the experience. Kelly is the Procurement Manager at Wayfare, which is “New Zealand's leading family of experience brands”.

“Having completed postgrad study at Business School in the past (engineering management, finance and negotiation) I came back for more when I felt the need for a Supply Chain career “top up”. I was looking for industry insights, networking and strategic supply chain knowledge. And they delivered. The high calibre of the material, speakers and programme coordination is what I’ve come to expect from Executive Programmes at Auckland. But more than that, I appreciated the collegial approach taken. The coordinators and advisory panel go above and beyond to ensure supply chain professionals, aspiring to leadership, are well positioned. Enjoyable, engaging and en pointe – the Strategic Supply Chain Programme was exactly what I needed.”

The program was taught in four two-to-three day modules over six months. Each module blended expert faculty teaching, industry guest speakers, active project work, site visits, simulations, online learning, case studies and peer group engagement to maximise the applicability of the programme. 2018 saw a cohort of 10 participants, who are pictured along with Tava Olsen, the academic advisor for the programme, and Felicity Lawrence, the managing director for the programme.
