Professor Basil Sharp - Director

In 2008 Professor Basil Sharp was appointed as new Director of the Energy Centre and since then new members from various disciplines and expertise have joined.

Professor Basil Sharp was appointed Director of The Energy Centre in 2008. His research interests span the field of environmental economics and law and economics. He has a specific interest in developing microeconomic foundations for analysing different mechanisms for allocating natural resources, and the performance of rights-based systems of governance in water resources, nitrogen pollution, climate change and fisheries. He has applied (spatial) econometric analysis and non-market valuation methods to a range of environmental problems in New Zealand.
