Vernon Sequeira


“I chose social housing as the subject of my masters dissertation. I’ve been lucky enough to always have a roof over my head, and I would like to help those who struggle to find adequate accommodation, in any way I can”.

Vernon is currently studying for a Master of Property. He has a part-time job in the Auckland office of Colliers International.

Sobia Mughal


"My supervisor is all about getting involved in research that has a meaningful impact in the community (practically as well as theoretically). That’s what I love – we think the same way regarding our research goals.”

Sobia is studying towards a Master of Commerce in Marketing and is a recipient of an Ann Rich Holway Memorial Scholarship.

Finn Templeton


“The honours and masters years are where I instilled a good work ethic. I gained experience presenting academic papers to my fellow students and my professors. Not only do you get used to openly discussing ideas, but your presentation skills really improve and your perspective changes."   

Finn completed a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) and Master of Commerce (First Class) in Finance and now works as an Investment Banking Analyst at First NZ Capital.

Vanisha Narsey


“The department encouraged and were really supportive of me attending international conferences each year, where I could network, put my research out there and find opportunities to strengthen it."

Vanisha completed her PhD in Marketing titled “Peeling back the curtain: Exploring the brand backstory”. She now works as a Consultant at TRA.

Chris Farhi


“Engineering was my first choice but I’ve always enjoyed the business side of life too, so I really wanted to add that aspect to my education." 

Chris Farhi completed a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) majoring in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Property (First Class Honours). He leads the Strategic Consulting team for Colliers International in New Zealand.

Natacha Blidy


“Technology is changing so rapidly and accounting processes are increasingly becoming automated. It’s so important for me that I gain the skills and knowledge to work in advisory services because I think that’s where accounting is leading."

Natacha is international student studying towards a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting and is due to start a graduate role at PwC in 2018.

Jamie Newth


“It’s a great environment for PhD students. I found that there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in meaningful teaching and prepare for an academic career while also doing interesting things in industry with practitioners.”

Jamie completed his PhD in social entrepreneurship. He now works as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Auckland and is the Managing Director of Soul Capital.

Daniel Cheng


“My advice to future students is to find a topic that you are genuinely interested in. I’ve always been interested in applying theory to find practical solutions to real-world problems, so I’m intrigued by modelling and simulation."

Daniel completed the Master of Commerce specialising in Operations and Supply Chain Management. He works as a Graduate Supply Chain Analyst at Air Liquide.

Xiaoyan Bai


“As an undergraduate when you are thrown a question there is always an answer. A key difference about studying at postgraduate level is that all the questions are new – you come across issues that haven’t been addressed or haven’t been touched at all, and that was really exciting to me."

Xiaoyan completed her PhD in Information Systems. She now works as a Business Intelligence Consultant at Genesis Energy.

Lorraine Lee
