Programme requirements

Be sure you are familiar with the requirements of the Master in Taxation programme as you will need to meet these in order to graduate.

The MTaxS has been designed to enable professionals to study part-time and graduates to study fulltime. The programme is normally completed within two consecutive semesters (fulltime), or up to eight consecutive semesters (part-time). It is also possible for students to take individual MTaxS courses towards their LLM degree.
Prerequisites Requirements
  • A commerce or law degree, with taxation and/or relevant experience in taxation.
120 points comprising either research or taught masters.

Research masters 
  • 30 points: COMLAW 740
  • 90 points: COMLAW 794 Thesis

Taught masters

  • 30 points: COMLAW 740
  • 90 points from COMLAW 741, 746-756, 789, 790
The MTaxS is a 120-point degree. Students must complete a compulsory 30-point course and either a 90-point thesis or 90 points of courses chosen from the schedule.
