Meet Belinda Kilian

Belinda is currently studying a conjoint Bachelor of Property and Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Commercial Law.

Belinda chose to study property because she had been immersed in it since childhood. Her father has invested in property for many years, and she sees huge opportunities in the New Zealand market, particularly in Auckland.

Belinda is especially interested in valuation, and she has been able to put her studies into practice during three internships: at Beca, Absolute Value and Goodman Property. She was awarded a scholarship for the Goodman internship, and says this is one of the highlights of her study so far.

Another was the Property ‘project’, which required her to complete a feasibility study on a property in Beach Road, Auckland City. Should this property be purposed as commercial offices or residential apartments? Belinda had to make a case, cost it out and present the results, which she found very stimulating.

“If you’re interested in property, Auckland is the place to study and work. The Department of Property is a great little community. Everyone knows everyone else, and the Head of Department is incredibly helpful and supportive. There are strong links with the industry, and heaps of networking opportunities. I love it”, Belinda says.
