The Dame Mira Szászy Māori Alumni Award recognises outstanding achievement by graduates of the Business School, and excellence in tribal and business endeavours nationwide and internationally.

Kiri is a Māori entertainment and events specialist and this award is in recognition of her exceptional leadership skills. Kiri has successfully promoted Māori events and entertainment in the international arena, and is the Founder and Director of corporate team building company, The Warrior Way (www.warriorteambuilding.com), which draws on Māori philosophy and values to improve corporate culture.

As a community and business development consultant, this award acknowledges Ngaroimata’s outstanding leadership in starting and successfully developing her small business in consultancy, research and project management, and her application of core Māori values in business and the wider economy.

Jack is honoured for his excellent leadership in gaining a home building supplier franchise with one of New Zealand’s largest companies. The Place Makers Joint Venture franchise programme enables exceptional individuals to go into business with New Zealand's largest building materials manufacturer and distributor, Fletcher Building. In nine-and-a-half years, Jack has made the business model his own with effective study, proven business skills, inspirational leadership and determination.

This award is acknowledgement of Leon’s remarkable leadership in starting a chartered accounting and consultancy business that was successfully developed with a specialisation of working with small businesses, Māori Trusts and Māori-owned operations. Leon has since joined Deloitte, an international accounting consultancy, and was awarded Most Outstanding New Accountant in 2009 at the Institute of Chartered Accountants Leadership Awards.
