Associate Professor Daniel Vidal

PhD, MEng, MBA, PGDip(Psychology), PGDip(Finance)

Biography

Daniel is a general management consultant with strong hands-on systems and business strategy development experience gained in top international companies. He has extensive consulting and advisory background with specific strengths in IT-driven transformation, business performance enhancement, change management, and improving competitive position. Daniel is a partner of both Integral Consulting, a boutique management consulting firm in Auckland, and Intellectual Capital Ratings (NZ) Ltd, a strategic partner of Intellectual Capital Sweden, the world’s premier organisation in the area of assessment of intangible assets founded by Leiff Edvinsson.

Daniel provides advice on business and systems strategic planning processes, change management and industrial psychology to large organisations. He also has a broad range of skills covering business process redesign, activity-based costing, and industry analysis. Previously, he held the positions of MIS Manager and Executive Committee Member at the New Zealand office of Thomas Cook (NZ) and Principal Consultant of the Auckland Management Solutions Group at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. He also held line management positions with Ford Motor Company, Air New Zealand, ExxonMobil, and General Electric.

Daniel has been lecturing on business and information management topics at a postgraduate level since 1995. Currently, Daniel teaches in three post-gradute programmes: MBA, Master in BioScience Enterprise and Master in Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship.  As an experienced practitioner and lecturer, Daniel brings a unique blend of practical, hands-on experience plus strong learning facilitation skills. Daniel is also a registered qualified practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which he applies within staff development and change management programmes.

Research Interests:
Entreprenurial Approach and Firm Performance
Current research focuses on new venture formation processes, entrepreneurial approaches, and the resulting firm performance of NZ eco-tourism and adventure tourism SMEs.
